AS A SENIOR (2014-15): (XC) Posted the Broncos' fastest individual time at the season-opening USF Invitational by running the men's 8k in 26:12.9, good for 21st place ... finished as the top Bronco runner and took second place overall at the WCC Preview Meet by running 24:23.4 in the men's 8k.

ATHLETIC EXPERIENCE: Joins the SCU Cross Country team in 2014-15 as a graduate student with one year of eligibility remaining … competed at the NCAA Cross Country National Championship and ran 14:38.04 and 30:18.30 on the track.

PERSONAL: Originally from Yountville, Calif. … returns to his home state to complete a Master’s degree in Bioengineering.

COACH MONTORO ON RUEGG: “We are really pleased that Kurt decided to use his final year of eligibility at Santa Clara. He has NCAA Championship experience from his time at Harvard and will be an instant impact for us up front.”

Keith Conning: My son Andrew Conning, a graduate of Berkeley High School in 1989, attends Harvard. He ran cross country and track for me at Berkeley.

Bio: Andrew Conning is a doctoral candidate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Graduate Student Associate of the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies. His research examines the structures of reasoning with which individuals across cultures make sense of international and interethnic issues. He is spent 2012-13 conducting research in China as a Fulbright scholar and Harvard Traveling Fellow.
